Volunteer Spotlight: Michael Hashizume

Michael Hashizume was raised and has lived most of his life in Beaverton. He works in tech and has been with his lovely wife, whom he met when they were both students at Beaverton Michael Hashizume High School, for 15 years. He has been on the Bicycle Advisory Committee (BAC) since 2018, and is currently serving as the vice chair.

“I enjoy volunteering because of all of the ways it allows me to get involved. I get to meet and work with people in the community, I get to help shape projects in Beaverton, and most importantly I get to be part of events like Bike Beaverton,” he said. “Serving as a member of the BAC has opened the door to participation in civic life in a way I wouldn’t have been able to access otherwise.”
