Tax Assistance Program Helps Community Receive $625,000 in Refunds

The Beaverton Tax Assistance Program, provided in partnership with CASH Oregon and Metropolitan Family Services, resulted in over $652,000 in tax refunds to the Beaverton community this year. This service was offered in three different methods this year: in-person tax preparation; “Scan and Go,” which individuals would take their completed tax forms to scan at the center; and virtual service.

Individuals and families that obtained services this year received an average return of $2,471. The tax site assisted eligible individuals and families with receiving the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), which more than 79 taxpayers qualified for this year. The EITC is the largest anti-poverty program in the nation and lifts an estimated 10.1 million people out of poverty every year in the United States.

CASH Oregon will host summer hours for those who need to file late or amend a return at their Portland location until Friday, Sept. 30.
