New Housing Variety Rules Head to Public Hearing

Comprehensive Plan and Development Code changes that will allow duplexes, triplexes, quadplexes, townhouses, and cottage clusters in Beaverton’s residential neighborhoods will be the subject of a Wednesday, May 11 Planning Commission public hearing.
The changes mean that more housing variety will be allowed in areas of the city that now have mostly one detached home per lot. This will help the city comply with state law and make it easier for new housing to be added to the city that meets the needs of a wider variety of people.
Public testimony is welcome at the 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 11 hearing. Information about how to watch the hearing or provide testimony during the hearing will be available at
Meeting materials, including the staff report, will be available on the website about a week before the meeting.
