Your Beaverton Update For April 7, 2022

Here is what happened with the city this week, and what to look for in the week to come.  

City Council:  

Mayor Beaty proclaimed April 2, 2022 – May 1, 2022 as the Month of Ramadan in Beaverton, urging all residents to support community members who are observing this holy month of the Islamic calendar.

The City Council approved a grant agreement for $1 million in state funding for programs and services that address housing insecurity, affordability, and/or homelessness in Beaverton.  

Additionally, the council discussed vertical housing zones, the Housing Options Project, with considerations for home sizes and parking, and the first of many “Housing Talks” education sessions throughout the year.

Priorities for major streets improvements were identified for the Washington County 5-year funding cycle. Projects that focus on equity, safety, economic vitality, livability, and the natural environment were also discussed, such as the Downtown Loop, Allen Boulevard, Canyon Road improvements, sidewalks, and more.
