Here is what happened with the city this week, and what to look for in the week to come.
City Council:
Notice: Starting in March, the City Council meeting schedule will change. Regular council meetings will be scheduled only on the first and third Tuesday of each month, with the fourth Tuesday of each month held for Beaverton Urban Redevelopment Agency (BURA) meetings. Please note there will be some exceptions in the month of May.
City Council is also moving to a hybrid-location model for meetings. The first meeting of each month will occur in person, with city leaders in Council Chambers. Remote participation will still be an option, including for visitor comments from the public.
This week, Council discussed goals and priorities, and gave direction to inform its 2-year Council priorities workplan.

Nearly two dozen specific project areas were mentioned, focusing on citywide initiatives like affordable housing, anti-racism, climate action plan implementation, behavioral health court expansion, capital project prioritization, and a fiscal sustainability plan just to name a few.

Mental health resources, a multicultural center and a Chief Equity Officer position were other key priorities discussed by the Council.
The Council’s goals and priorities, informed by the community and other guiding documents like the city’s Comprehensive Plan, DEI Plan, and Community Vision, will shape the upcoming budget development process in May.
It is anticipated that the Council strategic goals and priorities workplan will be formally adopted on March 1. Strategic goals include:
- A Welcoming Community
- Good Government
- Safety
- Housing
- Economic Prosperity
- Quality Infrastructure
- Environmental Sustainability
- Community Wellness and Fun
