Are you looking to serve your community in a new way in 2022? Look no further! Spots on a handful of Beaverton boards and commissions are open and ready to be applied for mid-term appointments slated to begin in May.
Whether it’s city budgeting (Budget Committee); advocating for bicycle transportation (Bicycle Advisory Committee); advising on issues related to human rights (Human Rights Advisory Commission); supporting our libraries (Library Advisory Board); funding local social services organizations (Social Services Funding Committee); or addressing traffic-related concerns and projects within the city (Traffic Commission), getting involved in local government is a great way to have a say in matters that matter to you. Openings exist on all the above-referenced boards and commissions.
If serving on the Budget Committee or Traffic Commission sounds intimidating, don’t let it be! Technical experience is not required to be a traffic commissioner. Even for the Budget Committee, a finance background is not necessary to be an effective, contributing member; only a passion for serving the community and a desire to learn! We welcome applicants with a fixed income and community focus to help us shape a budget that is reflective of the needs and interests of all who call Beaverton home.
Applications for these volunteer opportunities are open until Sunday, Mar. 13.
