Congratulations, Beaverton! The Beaverton Urban Redevelopment Agency (BURA) will be celebrating 10 years of commitment and realizing the community goals set by the Beaverton voters’ approval of the Central Beaverton Urban Renewal Plan in 2011. A decade of focused public investments, using tax increment financing and urban renewal funding tools, stimulated private interest and transformed the district. This work can be seen in the redevelopment of Beaverton’s downtown.
The BURA Board, which includes the mayor, city councilors and four community members, along with the 13-member Urban Renewal Advisory Committee are excited to be celebrating this milestone with you throughout the year with updates to the BURA website, social media highlights, and publications, culminating with a spring celebratory event dependent upon COVID-19 protocols at that time
Some of BURA’s highlights include but are not limited to: significant small business programs through storefront and tenant improvement grants; predevelopment grants; land acquisition and disposition for redevelopment opportunities , including housing and jobs; assistance with infrastructure projects; construction of the nearly complete 350-space and 6,500-square-foot retail space Beaverton Central Parking Garage; and various planning efforts, including the in-process Downtown Parking Management and Action Plan.
