Created in 2011 to capitalize on opportunities within central Beaverton and meet desires identified in the Community Vision to create a revitalized, vibrant downtown core, BURA is responsible for administering and monitoring urban redevelopment activities within the city’s urban redevelopment area. Currently, BURA has three boards and commissions.
Urban Renewal Advisory Committee (URAC)
URAC provides advice and recommendations on the planning and implementation of the BURA’s work. The advisory committee is made up of 13 members, with four new members added in 2021. URAC has advised both the Downtown Equity Strategy and Beaverton Downtown Loop on their community engagement efforts and plans. Committee members will continue to track ongoing projects, as well as informing several key upcoming parking and parks related initiatives.
