Your Beaverton Update for August 12, 2021

Here is your update on what has happened with the City of Beaverton this week, and a preview of what to look for in the next week to come.

City Council

Coming up in their next meeting (Tuesday, August 17):

Mayor Beaty and the Council will meet to discuss Trees in Beaverton, Title VI implementation, Open Air Beaverton, City operations, and more.

Public comments are always welcomed, instructions are available on the agenda.

Hot Weather Relief / Cooling Centers

During the heat wave this week, there are two locations where community members are invited to come and cool off, charge devices, use the WiFi and get a drink of water. Restrooms will also be available.

The City of Beaverton will be offering a cooling center in the Cathy Stanton Room of the Beaverton City Main Library, located at Hall Blvd and 5th Street.

The Library Cooling Center operates:

  • Thursday August 12, 6 – 10 PM
  • Friday August 13, 6 – 10 PM
  • Saturday August 14, 6 – 8 PM

The City of Beaverton is working with Washington County and Just Compassion to provide overnight, air conditioned shelter during the current heat wave at the Beaverton Community Center (12350 SW 5th St., Beaverton, OR 97005). The space is pet friendly.

The shelter operates: 

  • Thursday August 12, 9 PM to 10 AM August 13
  • Friday August 13, 9 PM to 10 AM August 14
  • Saturday August 14, 9 PM to 10 AM August 15

Upcoming Events

Beaverton Night Market

The Night Market will be back in person in summer 2021! The event will be in a new location in downtown Beaverton along 1st St and Tucker Ave. The event is FREE and open to the public.
