Friday’s Beaverton Night Market canceled due to extreme heat

Saturday’s Beaverton Night Market Planned to Occur as Scheduled

The Beaverton Night Market is canceled Friday, August 13 due to extreme heat forecasted for the Portland metropolitan area. Community members are encouraged to take precaution, stay hydrated and remain cool during high temperatures.

The city’s cooling center information and hot weather tips are available at https://www.beavertonoregon.gov/1630/Hot-Weather-Information.

“The decision to cancel Friday’s market is made out of an abundance of caution for our performers, vendors and participants,” said planning committee member Manijeh Mehrnoosh. “We are looking forward to our community coming together on Saturday when it is safer to do so.”

The Beaverton Night Market will occur in person on Saturday, August 14 from 4 to 10 p.m. The market will take shape in a brand-new location on the streets of downtown Beaverton at SW 1st Street and SW Tucker Avenue. Street closures will be in place to make way for the market.

This year’s market includes a collaboration with the La Strada dei Pastelli Chalk Art Festival. For more information on the Chalk Art Festival, including dates and times, visit www.2d4d.org/la-strada.

Saturday’s Night Market will feature a dynamic assortment of unique vendors and performers representing dozens of cultures from around the world. Two food court areas will feature stages, so attendees can enjoy musical and dance performances while they eat.

The event is free to attend and open to all community members. Since state pandemic restrictions have been lifted, no reservations are necessary for market entry. Attendees are asked to practice good safety protocols and stay home if they are sick.
