The Beaverton Startup Challenge will be accepting applications in August from for-profit, early-stage growth businesses with ambition and potential to succeed! Each winning startup will receive a total award of $25,000 including cash, a year in-residence at Oregon Technology Business Center, on-site mentoring assistance and support through periodic investor meetings.
Applicant teams must have at least two members, with at least one person working on the startup full-time. Teams should be beyond the idea stage, completed a significant amount of customer-need validation and have a good sense of potential market opportunity. Applicants may be self-funded, grant-funded, investor-funded or some combination of these sources.
The city, the West Side Startup Fund and the Oregon Technology Business Center (OTBC) launched the Startup Challenge in 2015. Thirty winning companies have been selected since the 2015 launch and over the last six years these challenge winners have raised over $50 million in funding, hired 100+ employees and substantially grown revenue.
Applications are due by Friday, Oct. 1. Winners will be selected in early December. Still not convinced? For more information about the challenge, and to hear directly from previous challenge winners, please visit www.otbc.org/beaverton-challenge or contact Steve Morris at email@example.com.
