We take climate change seriously here in Beaverton. In 2019, the City Council adopted the Beaverton Climate Action Plan (BCAP). This is a key element of our sustainability efforts, and we want our community to be even more involved. In March, the council approved a new Climate Action task force that can provide critical feedback to staff based on lived experiences. This task force will advise and make recommendations to me, the council, and staff on issues related to the BCAP. We are actively recruiting community members who can provide diverse perspectives, social networks, and expertise around the city’s climate action work. We are especially looking for people who are under the age of 30, are from traditionally underrepresented groups, and/or have affiliation or expertise in areas relevant to climate action and/or community engagement. If this sounds interesting to you, please get in touch. Find out more about the Climate Action Task Force at https://yourbeaverton.com/2021/04/23/climate-action-task-force-established/.
