The Mayor’s Youth Advisory Board has been working online this year to promote diversity, advocacy, community involvement, and to combat youth homelessness and effects of COVID-19 on the Beaverton community.
This past winter MYAB distributed over 250 COVID care packages to community members in need. They distributed the packages to local nonprofits such as HomePlate Youth Services and Meals on Wheels.
MYAB is now looking to expand membership! Any incoming high school student for the 2021 year in the Beaverton area is encouraged to apply.
All MYAB meetings are currently online in ordinance with public safety guidelines. Virtually all work is completed online (with the exception of some physical distribution of materials for projects done by MYAB volunteers), so MYAB is looking for applicants with a strong sense of personal responsibility and passion for community advocacy and change.
Anyone interested in applying may visit www.BeavertonOregon.gov/MYAB for more information and a link to the application.
