Beaverton Police Department Swears in Officers

The Beaverton Police Department is pleased to welcome five new officers to the department. Officers Diego Balderas, Taylor Klus, Lawrence Kubota, Curtis Lee and David Sanders were officially sworn in by Chief Ronda Groshong on Jan. 11. The new recruits will begin the six-week in-house orientation and training, which will cover department policies, communication skills, building searches, criminal investigation techniques, as well as Taser and CPR/first aid certifications.

Next, the new officers will go to the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training in Salem for the 16-week Basic Police Officer Academy. Then, they will return to the Beaverton Police Department, where each officer will be assigned a field training officer and hit the road for practical field training for the duration of their recruit probation, 18 months after their hire date.
