The fountain at City Park will remain closed out of an abundance of caution and to ensure compliance with state guidelines.
“There remains concerns about water play and COVID-19,” said Public Works Director Chad Lynn. “Given the popularity of the fountain, especially in summer months, we can only expect that maintaining proper physical distancing would be difficult. This is also an opportunity to provide long awaited upgrades and improvements for the future.”
New City Park Fountain proceeds in fall
The fountain closure precedes already approved and budgeted work on the fountain that will begin in fall. Upgrades include relocation of the underground vault and upgrading of the mechanical equipment and piping, and replacement and resizing of the fountain splash pad.
